Hand express & Fever

Woke up with bengkak susu. Solat subuh and immediately search for my IQ Uno. I thought I packed it completely tapi I forgot the most important part- the head motor pump. Dang.

Tasneem only manage to empty the right breast, but she was already full to drink from the left side. Lagipun, with the fever she still has, her appetite agak berkurangan. Macam biasa lepas minum, Tasneem will dozed off to sleep leaving ummi with a hard-swollen-painful-full with milk left breast.

I really have to express the milk. Googled and found this. Really helpful with pictures and good instructions. I never try hand expressing before. I know some of mommies out there prefer hand technique than gadgets. For instance, Mama Ryan mastered the skill of hand expression. In fact, some says gadget-express are painful. I dont know, I’ve been gadget-expressed since day 1 Tasneem was born.

I want to give it a try and see how it works.

A little update on Tasneem:

Dr NikRose decided to do urine Culture & Sensitivity test (urine C&S) since she did not find any signs of bacteria infections. If the result turn +ve presence of any form of bacteria in the urine, she’ll going to start on the antibiotics; which in my opinion, the last options that I have to take. As far as my concern, I wanted my daughter to have as minimal antibiotics drugs as she can. Suffice to say, its for her health benefits in the long run.

Anyway, when we reached Seremban, I noticed that she developed red-rashes on her cheeks, heads and body. It does look itchy. Emak said ( diagnosed ?? ), maybe its demam campak. Terus emak ambil tepung kanji and tepek-kan kat muka & badan Tasneem. Kelakar pulak ummi tengok dia di-tepung-gomak-kan. hehhee .

In 3days of her fever, the body temperature showed flactuate readings. Normal in mid-day, increasing by dawn, then lower at mid-night and so forth. This morning, her body temperature was slightly high but still below 38.0°C. Typical criteria of viral infections: <flactuate body temperature>. Erm, maybe betul la kot emak punye diagnosis: Tasneem  kena demam campak.

I just hope her fever will subside soon, because if lets say she still with fever in 2days time, we have to visit Dr. NikRose again for blood test. I know its normal for babies to have fever and in fact its good to strengthen the immune system. Looking at her condition now, she still actively bably, her poops were normal, sleep pattern normal except she drinks less milk,with red rashes on her cheeks and a bit clingy. Orang tua2 kata, demam nak beralih bulan. And thinking of that, I think I’m going to pass the blood test.Rasa macam x perlu pulak.  huhu

Not well

At 7am this morning her body temperature marked 39.3°C. She was OK yesterday.

My ohhh my.

She was sleeping but due to her body heating up, merengek2 aje tapi mata lelap. So kesian tengok my baby.

 Gave her PCM and sponged her head.

At 8am, her body temperature down to 38.6°C. Continued sponging and at 9am, her temperature was down to 37.3°C. 

We’re bringing her to her paed, Dr.NikRose. I hope it’ll be just a normal viral fever.

Updates

Tasneem’s almost 3 months now. Yippiee !!

A bit on her milestone as for now:

• She now can mengiring.

• She’s very babbly. Tak kira lah dengan siapa. Lagi org tu layan laaaaggiii dia suka.

• She laughs now, especially when ummi tickled her. Tp kalau abi buat Tasneem x gelak pulak.
• Likes to watch TV. Seldom ummi told her TV is not good for babies. hhehe

• Likes to play with her playgym. (TQ makngah, pakngah & abg afeef, Tasneem likes it so much!!)
• Likes to be bedung when sleeping.
• Discovers her hands and feet.
• When changing her diaper, she voluntarily lifts her feet.
• Sangat2 suka masukkan penumbuk tangan dalam mulut sampai gag. For ummi, baguslah tu dari dia nak paci.
• As she is getting more playful now, during weekends she will have a short nap especially during after the afternoon. Sometimes during weekdays, her bbsitter claimed that she didn’t sleep much that day especially during school holidays since there were quite a handful of kids around the house. Ramai lah tukang borak dgn dia.
• Her night sleeps almost in a regular mode. Normally, by 8.30pm she will be sleeping and wakes up 2x at night for her feed.

Now that ummi recieved a good response and testi from mommies regarding the diaper brand, after much considerable ummi decided to try huggies dry comfort. Ummi’s 1st impression was “wah, tebalnye cotton dia..”. Then bila pakai pada Tasneem, the cutting was nice. The sealer was nice too, easy to re-adjust. Price-wise is OK lah, takde lah mahal sangat but not so cheap either. So far, Tasneem xde buat perangai menangis nak bugil x suka dgn diaper dia tu. heh heh.

On the other hands, in the previous post regarding the petua of dried longan; it does work for me. I had a few series of bengkak susu especially in the morning after a few drinks. Walaupun sakit tapi rasa seronok kena bengkak susu tu. Now I can store 3.5 - 4oz of EBM each. Cuma I still failed to follow 4x pumping session as planned before. Weekends pun x pump. Plan nye nak pump while direct feeding Tasneem tapi plan aje lebih.Hmm…bad ummi. I really have to be discipline from now on.

Oh, 19/3 was abi’s birthday. Ummi managed to suprise abi with cute cupcakes with his favourite sport as the theme and the most special suprise of all was the birthday card signed by Tasneem herself.

Little Tasneem is having a viral fever as this post is written. She was having a running nose since yesterday but her temperature was OK. However, when I picked her from the bbsitter, I felt her body was quite hot and upon reaching home, her temperature was at 38.0°C when measured. Abi & I then decided to bring her to see Paed as we dont have paracetamol (PCM) for her. When we reached home, I gave her the PCM and you know what, she refused to swallow the medicine. Habis dia keluarkan balik ubat tu kena baju, mitten sume. Hmm, belum pun 3 bulan lg dah tunjuk dia x suka makan makan ubat. Abi cakap ikut ummi x suka makan ubat. Haihh..

She’s sleeping now, hope that the temperature will subside. Its the 1st time for Tasneem & us; the parents to handle a sick child. Harap2nya ummi tak over paranoid bila Tasneem sakit macam ni.
